Rotary community ‘putt’ their money where it matters

Rotary community ‘putt’ their money where it matters, as golf day raises big dollars
for Maitland HealthStays Project.
This morning, Maitland HealthStays was presented with a cheque for $27,700, the
fundraising proceeds from the 2024 Rotary Golf Day.
Working together, five Rotary clubs in Maitland (East Maitland, Greenhills Maitland,
Maitland, Maitland Sunrise, and Rutherford Telarah) along with Maitland Rotaract,
again staged the annual Rotary Golf Day on Sunday 24th March at East Maitland Golf
Club.

“Each year, this popular event raises much need funds for projects in our community”
said Maryka Gibson of the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise.
“This year we were focused on raising funds for the Maitland HealthStays
Accommodation project. This project is really important because it will provide
economical, safe and accessible accommodation for patients, and their families and
carers, who come from outlying rural and regional areas, to Maitland, to receive
medical treatments and health services.” Ms Gibson added.

Presentation of the funds was made to Trevor Lynch, Chair of the Maitland
HealthStays Accommodation Committee, by representatives of the participating
Rotary Clubs.

“This project is so important for our local community, but it is critical for people who
live in more rural and remote areas, who need to access treatment. We are so grateful
to everyone who contributed their time and money to make this vital project a reality”
said Mr Trevor Lynch, Chair of Maitland HealthStays.

“Nearly $28,000 is an outstanding achievement.” Mr Lynch added.
