Local Initiative Offers Widespread Benefit

Hunter-Based Not-for-Profit Calls for Donors to Help Build Vital Health Accommodation

A groundbreaking new project in Maitland is calling on local businesses, service clubs, councils, and community members across regional NSW to back a new health accommodation precinct – HealthStays.
The initiative is ready to break ground on 10 units near Maitland Hospital, offering short-term accommodation for those needing to be close to loved ones or attend outpatient treatments.
“There is nothing like this currently available in our region,” says project founder Patricia Crook. “This is about community looking after community.”
The project is 100% not-for-profit, with a clear governance structure and long-term plans to grow with regional health needs. The first stage of 20 units is ready for construction, with a DA in place and a suitable land identified. Now the project needs major investment to raise $9 million to complete the first stage of the project and to be operational in 2026.
HealthStays invites the Governments, investors, corporates and people of New South Wales and beyond to get involved.
